West Kingdom Viscounts
Viscounts of the West Kingdom is set at a time when the king's reign began to decline, around AD 980. Choosing peace over prosperity, our once strong king began to offer our enemies gold and earth to lay their axes on. But peace is a tenuous affair. As poverty spread, many people lost faith in his ability to rule and sought to become independent of the crown. Since he gained the favor of his courts, our future has also become uncertain. As Viscounts, we must be wise and decisive. Loyalty must be respected, but winning the favor of the people must be our priority, in the event of a sudden change of power.
The goal of the Viscounts of the West Kingdom is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at the end of the game. Points are earned by constructing buildings, writing scrolls, working in the castle, and acquiring titles to new lands. Players start with a handful of townspeople, but should quickly seek out more suitable talents to advance their efforts. With each turn, they will travel the kingdom, seeking to increase their influence in the various areas of society. The game ends once the Kingdom reaches poverty or prosperity - or potentially both!
